<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Tattoo removal creams do not work
The best that tattoo removal creams can do is to fade or lighten a tattoo, according to Lawrence E. Gibson, M.D. Not only is there no evidence that these creams work, they could irritate your skin. As of 2008, tattoo removal creams cost $50 to $100 for a small jar. You will need to apply it daily for three to 12 months.
On the Other: They may lighten the tattoo
Some people use tattoo creams to lighten the tattoo prior to laser surgery, the best method of removing a tattoo. Because it may take several attempts at laser surgery to completely remove a tattoo, a lightened tattoo may lessen the number of laser surgeries needed. Tattoo creams are readily available at pharmacies and online.
Bottom Line
Tattoos are supposed to be permanent. The ink goes under the skin. The best option to remove a tattoo is laser surgery that you can have a dermatologist perform. It is better not to waste your money on tattoo removal cream unless your goal is possibly to lighten your tattoo prior to surgery.
