Any materials can be used to create a diorama. Schoolchildren often use cut paper or natural items, such as twigs, pinecones or shells. Paint of all types is popular to use. Artists may use wood or ceramic or whatever comes to their minds.
History
Dioramas got their start in Japan during the sixth century as a new approach to display beautiful scenery.
Fun Fact
Bonsai, the art of trimming trees to be tiny, became popular as a result of creating dioramas.
