My PS2 makes a very loud clicking noise when it needs to load something. What could be wrong?

My PS2 sometimes does this too I think its normal because now im used to it but my PS2 is an older model and now its making these noises constantly so I think the best thing you could do is ask around a little. If noone knows how to fix it u could call sony and ask about it. I think tyhe best thing u could do is to just play it till it won't play any more. Just be careful u don't scratch ur discs.

no ps2 should be making any clicking noises. but it is fixable. the reason for the clicking noise is because the laser rides on 2 metal bars. as the ps2 reads the cd's the laser moves back and forth alone the bars, after a while the ps2 may start to make clicking sounds when loading because the bars have lost some lube on then, the only want to fix it is to... open the ps2 up and re-apply some lube. the best i heard to use and probably any hardware store will have it.... something called light bulb grease...or something like that. i don't not suggest you open the ps2 under any reasons. if you don't know what your doing, you could damage it even more. but that it the answer the mysterious clicking ps2

ok this is quite simple all u need to do is open it up and take the four screws out and take that black plastic thingy off and then pull out the disc trey.you'll see these two bars with the laser thing on it. those two bars move the laser base up and down and after a while of use the lubricant off the bars comes off.just put some more on it =)
