If installed on a healthy machine, STOPzilla is generally good at detecting and preventing malware, viruses, spyware, worms and malicious code from installing itself on your computer and attacking your system. PC Magazine rated STOPzilla two-and-a-half stars out of five, with kudos for its clean interface, quick functionality and ability to detect and defeat most viruses.

On the Other: Starting Can Be a Problem

STOPzilla's biggest downfall, according to PC Magazine, is that it doesn't install well on systems already infected with viruses and spyware. Because STOPzilla is such a well-known product, most malware comes equipped with code to block STOPzilla from installing on your PC and occasionally shutting down your PC.

    Bottom Line

STOPzilla is a great product when you don't really need it, but a headache when you do need it. It's a great preventative measure for new computers you want to keep healthy, but you might need to go for something a little stronger if your machine is badly infected.
