<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Yogurt May Be the Cure
According to David Ashley Hill, MD, eating 8 daily ounces of yogurt containing lactobacillus acidophilus can cure and prevent yeast infections. Another option is to apply plain, unsweetened yogurt to a tampon and insert into the vagina twice a day until the symptoms disappear.
On the Other: Medication Is More Effective
According to the Children's Hospital Boston Center for Young Women's Health, though yogurt may aid in the prevention of yeast infections, it will not cure them all on its own. Instead, medication is suggested as the more effective option.
Bottom Line
Yogurt may be an easy and affordable starting point in curing yeast infections. Using yogurt as a treatment may even be the solution. However, if symptoms worsen or do not disappear entirely, using over-the-counter yeast infection medications, or seeking professional medical advice, may be the best options.
