Good customer service makes customers happy. Happy customers will provide repeat business. Everyone likes to feel appreciated and good customer service does this. It costs more to attract new customers than it does to keep your existing customers.
The Golden Rule
The basic rule of customer service is to not only treat others the way you want them to treat you, but the way you want them to treat your grandmother. Kill them, so to speak, with kindness.
Reputation
Customers are more likely to tell friends about the poor customer service received than the good customer service. Your company's reputation relies on you providing good customer service.
Smile Through the Telephone
For good telephone customer service, the client should feel you smiling through the telephone. Keep a small mirror near your telephone and smile while helping clients by telephone.
Right Vs. Wrong
If you don't know the answer to a customer's question, tell him you will research it and get back to him. He would rather have to wait for the correct answer than be told the wrong answer immediately.
The Irritated Customer
No one wants to deal with a client who is boisterous and demanding. Many times, her frustration can be diffused by listening to her concerns. Hear her out, without interrupting, then focus on how to solve the problem.
