It's important to choose a webinar price that shows knowledge on the presentation subject and that the information is highly desired. According to "Webinar Marketing 101," people are more likely to pay for something because they believe that "you get what you pay for." A low cost or free webinar gives the impression that it is spam or worthless. Webinar Wire states that charging anywhere between $10 and $1,000 will work, depending on a webinar's length, topic and speakers.

    On the Other: Internet Expectations

Internet users expect information to be free online because of the multitude of downloadable content already available, according to Ken Molay on the Webinar Blog's. New webinars without an online following could be free at first to gain subscribers and draw viewers. Charging an inexpensive amount (less than $5) will still appeal to those looking for cheap, reliable information.

    Bottom Line

There are some who want to pay to feel they're getting their money's worth, and there are some looking for Internet freebies. In order to appeal to both in the long-term, start out with a free webinar, or a free preview of the first few minutes. Entice those who wish for freebies first; they will be more likely to pay for future webinars after they become fans and subscribers, along with those who would pay right away for receiving a quality product.
