Help answer this question below.
While no official definition for an "effective communicator" exists, we do know an effective communicator sends messages a recipient can easily receive and understand. In addition, an effective communicator uses specific listening practices to properly evaluate and respond to received messages.
An effective communicator sends clear, concise messages to recipients. The most effective communicators make special efforts to ensure the recipient understands messages, and may restate the message based on written, verbal or nonverbal responses.
An effective communicator is also an effective listener. To listen effectively, communicators must receive, interpret, evaluate and respond to messages.
By communicating effectively (both as a sender and a receiver), an individual can avoid conflict, reduce confusion and create efficiency.
Many colleges offer four-year degree programs in communication, and some highly effective communicators hold advanced degrees in the field.
