Avery inkjet labels are designed to absorb liquid ink. Laser printers use powdered ink that is fused to special laser pages. When you produce inkjet labels on a laser printer, the ink, which is toxic, may not properly fuse to the page and could get on your fingers. Also, the paper is not made for the intense heat of laser printers and so is prone to jamming.

On the Other: The Ink Will Still Print on the Labels

The inkjet labels may not jam, especially if yours is a newer model laser printer that has not been overused prior to printing. If the sheets do print, grab each sheet by the corner as soon as it shoots out of the printer, lay it on a flat surface and see if it dries properly over time.

    Bottom Line

Play it safe: To prevent costly equipment replacement fees that can result from paper jams and keep from getting toxic ink on your skin, avoid putting Avery inkjet labels into a laser printer.
