Many traditional book publishers produce children's books, often through an imprint or division within the publishing house. You can research the editors for a potential publisher in a current issue of "The Writer's Market" or through the websites listed in the resources below, as this information changes often.
Simon & Schuster
Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers publishes general-interest children's books, as do their imprints Aladdin and Atheneum Books for Young Readers. Simon Spotlight focuses on media tie-ins, and Little Simon Inspirations publishes inspirational stories for youngsters. Simon Scribbles is an imprint of coloring and activity books, and Simon Pulse publishes teen novels.
Random House
Random House has children's and young readers divisions. Its imprints for children are Bantam Dell Children's, Crown Books for Young Readers, Delacorte Books for Young Readers, Golden Books and Knopf Books for Young Readers.
HarperCollins
HarperCollins is another publishing house large enough to feature its own children's books. The Harper Festival and Greenwillow Books imprints feature children's books as well, and William Morrow publishes parenting titles.
Penguin Putnam
Putnam, Puffin and Penguin Putnam all publish children's books. The Penguin Putnam imprints that publish children's titles include Philomel, Razorbill, Grosset & Dunlap, Dutton Children's Books, Dial Books for Young Readers and Viking Children's Books.
Other Publishers
Small and large publishers across the country are listed at BookMarket.com and Writers Market, which is available online and in an annually published volume. Some publishers are for general-interest books, and others have specialized areas that might be ideal for your writing.
