Civil rights attorneys represent the interests of a person or group of people whose civil rights have been violated and who seek restitution, such as a monetary settlement or other actions, on their client's behalf.

Education
Civil rights attorneys must attend three years of law school after receiving a bachelor's degree. After graduation, civil rights attorneys must pass the bar exam offered in their respective states in order to practice law.
