A car warranty is a guarantee that states that a vehicle is free from defects and is reliable, as promised. These agreements come with a time limit, during which a manufacturer will replace or repair defective automotive parts.
Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty
This type of warranty is the most extensive that you can get on a brand new vehicle. The coverage is so extensive that it only lists items not covered like tires or batteries.
Emissions Warranty
This coverage may or may not be included in a bumper-to-bumper warranty but covers anything that has to do with emissions problems.
Rust/Corrosion Warranty
This warranty usually covers very severe cases of rust that have eaten a hole in the metal parts of your vehicle.
Power-Train Warranty
The power-train warranty covers all the mechanical components of your car such as the transmission and drive shafts. The engine is not covered.
Extended Car Warranty
An aftermarket warranty that you can purchase after the manufacture warranty has expired. Purchase this warranty before the original warranty expires.
Dealership Warranty
This warranty is offered by a dealership where you purchased your car rather than the manufacturer of the vehicle.
