  • Water is one of the essential elements we need to clean our systems and keep them free from toxic substances. Dehydration leads to increased levels of toxins and waste in the body. Your body requires water, a natural detoxifying agent, to work optimally.

    Water Requirements

Each individual has slightly different water requirements to keep his system clean, depending on age, health, and activity levels.

Water Requirements to Clean Your System Through Excretion

Water is lost through urine, respiration, perspiration and bowel movements. If you don't drink an adequate amount of water, your body stops the natural detoxification. Adults should drink about 68 ounces, or eight glasses, of water a day to keep their systems clean.

    Recommended Water Intake for Detoxification

According to the Institute of Medicine, a man needs about 102 ounces, or 13 glasses, of water a day, and a woman needs about 76 ounces, or 9 glasses, of water a day to remove toxins from the body.

    Other Factors Determining Water Requirement

Your daily activity level, your environment and your level of health dictate how much water your body needs to cleanse itself efficiently. Pregnant women need to drink about ten glasses of water a day, while women who breastfeed need around 12 glasses of water per day.

    Avoid Too Much Water

Drinking excessive amounts of water can have a fatal effect, placing intense pressure on your kidneys. Your blood holds more than 60% of the water you drink. Drinking too much water increases the volume of blood cells, which will put extra pressure on blood vessels. Such conditions are never ideal for natural cleansing.
