    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Microwave ovens heat food by generating radiation, which is absorbed by water molecules in the food, The water molecules vibrate and generate heat, cooking the food. But the amount of radiation the average microwave oven emits, about 2.45 GHz, is not nearly enough to harm anyone, particularly since nearly all of it is contained within the oven.
