  • Geeks come in more than 50 identifiable varieties and deviations. They tend to have a certain obsession with technology mixed with a social awkwardness and a disregard for fashion. Their compulsive obsession with things technological gives them little time to study and shop for clothing that would make them look more mainstream. It is possible to dress like a geek at your next Halloween party or to stop dressing like a geek if you want to gain social popularity and keep your technological passions alive.

    Eyewear

Geeks are famous for their large plastic-framed glasses. A broken frame that is taped together is clearly a status symbol in geekdom. Wire-rimmed glasses are the next-best thing. Make sure that the lenses are very thick. Coke-bottle lenses are far more geekish than contacts.

    Shirts

Geeks wear plain white buttondown shirts but make sure they are buttoned up to the collar. Expose no cleavage. A plaid shirt made of cotton or flannel is a nice geek fashion. If you wear long sleeves, keep the sleeves buttoned up--avoid rolling up your sleeves. A "Star Trek" or "Star Wars" T-shirt is a must.

    Pants

Tight-fitting dress pants that show the ankle are very geekish. High-water pants are either worn too tight or too loose, depending on the geeks physique. Brown, black and gray are ideal colors for geek pants. Corduroys with cuffs are a geek classic. If you are going to wear shorts, make them too long, below the knee.

    Shoes

Penny loafers are a geek tradition. Black shoes that come to a nice pointed toe that resembles the pointedness of Spock's ear are distinctly geek. A nice pickle-green pair of Converse sneakers make a geek's feet happier than R2D2 opening a gift-wrapped case of 10W40.

    Accessories

A nice "Harry Potter" or "Lost in Space" watch completes any geek outfit. Geeks are not fond of hats, but a "Spiderman," "Star Wars" or "Batman" logo on a baseball cap works. Belt buckles with "Batman," "Superman" or the Apple logo are geek collecter's items.
