<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Feeding Management
Choose a commercial cat food that includes a balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water. The food should meet the guidelines established by the American Association of Feed Control Officials. Additionally make sure to choose a product that that is specially formulated for the stage-of-life (adult) and body condition (obese) of the cat.
On the Other: Feeding Restrictions
Overweight cats should be fed a measured quantity of food, as opposed to being offering an unlimited amount. Food should be offered twice a day, with one to two hours allowed to complete the meal. Food should not be offered at times other than these two meal times.
Bottom Line
Feed your cat a high-quality food formulated for its specific stage and physical condition. Limit feedings and amount to control obesity. Consult a veterinarian to determine specific guidelines.
