A major part of any healthy family is the time they spend together. Too often families have their own private spaces and the TV and computer have replaced good conversation. Families should make time to remove other distractions and eat dinner or play together.
Cooperation makes healthy families even stronger. For example, if the husband needs to clear the garage of clutter, the wife and children can join him in the task. The husband can clear out the heaviest items while the rest of the family clears out other items and organizes them in bins.
A healthy family must have honesty in order for things to run smoothly in the home. For example, if a child lied to his parents about being able to graduate when he isn't, this causes distrust from the parents.
Healthy families recognize the importance of respect and how this reduces tension in the home. For example, if one of the parents lost a job, it would be respectful for the children to cut back on their requests for bigger allowances or more toys.
No family is a perfect family because everyone has flaws and quirks. But the beauty of a healthy family is that they can still love and trust each other despite the frailties. When there's a healthy family, the children grow to become mature, well-grounded, compassionate and respectful adults.
