  • Individuals wishing to travel to Bangladesh are required to present a passport, visa and onward/return ticket for admission to the country. If there for tourism, a tourist visa is required as well.

    Identification

The Bangladeshi tourism visa is an approval, usually in the form of a stamp on your passport, authorizing the holder to enter or pass through the country for the purposes of tourism.

    U.S. Citizens

The United States is on a list of countries eligible for visitor (tourist) visas on arrival (landing permits); however, this is not widely publicized, so you may encounter delays in airport visa issuance or be refused entry altogether. Additionally, some airlines do not allow travelers to board without a visa, regardless of government policy, therefore it is recommended that visas be obtained well in advance of travel.

    Landing Permits

The visitor (tourist) visa, when issued on arrival, is usually valid for a maximum of 15 days but can be up to 30. If you travel with the intention of obtaining a visa upon arrival, you must have the following: fees available in U.S. money, euro or pound sterling; a minimum of $500 U.S. in cash or credit card; and proof of your return ticket.

    When to Apply Early

If you anticipate being in Bangladesh for more than 30 days or need a multiple-entry visa, apply in the Bangladesh embassy or consulate prior to your trip.

    The Application

When applying for the visa prior to departure, you will need to submit the application form, appropriate fees, passport and two passport-sized photos to their nearest Bangladeshi consulate or embassy. Your passport must have six months of validity remaining.
