The majority of problems with XM radios can be attributed to faulty installation or a bad signal. XM radios troubleshoot themselves and will display what the most likely issue is on screen.
Updating
This message appears when you have adjusted the XM radio settings to automatically search for and install updates. This can also be displayed when you try to listen to a channel you do not have access to.
No Signal
This is most common when you are in an area with bad reception. Cavernous and underground areas will interfere with the XM signal.
Off Air
If isolated to single channels, it means that that channel is not currently broadcasting. If all of the channels show this, you are not connected to XM at all (possibly due to lack of payment or hardware issues).
Antenna
Your antenna is not properly connected. Confirm that it is tightly connected to the XM radio cradle. Unplug it and replug it if you have to. Reset the XM radio and try again.
Loading
Some XM radios load information faster than others. Long load times can be attributed to old hardware. Regardless, this message should never last longer than a few minutes.
