Nikon's SB-600 is a great all-around flash that works with both film and digital SLR cameras. It utilizes a seamless, fill flash function that functions well inside hockey arenas, which are usually dimly lit with uneven light.

On the Other: The SB-800 Works

Some sports photographers prefer the SB-800 because it's a little more adaptable with fluorescent lighting, which is often used for indoor photos. The SB-800 is a bit heavier though, and it's more expensive.

    Bottom Line

Although the SB-800 provides a slightly better performance in an indoor arena, the SB-600 is both cheaper and more compact. The SB-600 provides adequate light and gets the job done.
