For most vehicles, when a indicator light remains solid, rather than blinking, it means that one of the bulbs on that side has gone out and needs to be replaced. It could also be a short in the wiring, but this is far less likely. Replace the bulb and retest.

    On the Other: Flasher unit

It could also be that the flasher unit has gone bad. This could be an easy fix, or it could be a very expensive one. Some newer cars and trucks use the on-board computer to control the signals rather than an independent flasher unit. This can be very expensive to replace.

    Bottom Line

It is far more likely that one of the bulbs has burned out, interrupting the circuit of the flasher. Flasher units only function when they have a proper load on the circuit that they are connected to. Additionally, flasher units are far less prone to failure than the bulbs.
