Bluetooth is a wireless means of electronic communication. Wires and cables have been made archaic when it comes to transferring information from one electronic device to another because of the development and wide use of Bluetooth.
History
Bluetooth was first created and named in 1998. By 2008, nearly 2 billion Bluetooth products had been shipped worldwide.
Function
Getting information from one point to another quickly and conveniently is a main function of Bluetooth. With this technology, it is possible to transfer files from one electronic device to another in a matter of seconds.
Considerations
For Bluetooth communication to work, the electronic devices must have Bluetooth activated. It is not possible to send information through Bluetooth if all of the devices used for the communication are not equipped with Bluetooth.
Benefits
Bluetooth allows fast, wireless communication. It also makes it possible to speak hands-free on a cell phone by using a Bluetooth-equipped earpiece.
Devices
Personal computers and some gaming systems use Bluetooth to connect wireless remote devices such as keyboards and remotes.
Fun Fact
The name Bluetooth came from a Danish King, Harold Blatand. Translated in English, Blatand is Bluetooth. King Blatand combined Norway and Denmark, while Bluetooth unites electronic devices.
