Question

Help answer this question below.

If we know our actions cause others to act, are we then resposible for their actions as well?

For example, imagine a terrorist/hostage situation. If I don not meet the demands of the terrorist, am I then responsible for the death of the hostage?

No one is responsible for another person’s actions. It always makes me mad when I hear this “Oh! He/she made me do it." Our actions can affect the actions of another person but the precise way they do respond is their responsibility alone.

If someone gets in another man's house with a weapon, for example, with intent to
rob them or rape his wife, he's going to force that man to act in some unpredictable
ways which may include to harm--maybe even kill that man--to defend his family if
he could. So putting everything in context, I would say yes. None of that would've
happened if that man would've not gone in that man's house to rob them or whatever. However, not in all cases this is applicable. A robber cannot rob a person and claim that it was his/her fault for counting his/her money in front of him.

No, you are responsible for your own actions. You cannot be responsible for another person and how they choose to act. However you may want to consider your actions more closely if you know they will affect people in your life. Such as your children.
