Help answer this question below.

Do you have a pet that seems to understand your moods? Or that knows it's claws or teeth will hurt your skin? If I'm crying my cat will always come to me and give me attention. Anyone else have a sympathetic pet?

    Yes. My dog knows if I don't feel well. Last year when I had the flu, he sat with me and kept me warm. He was especially snuggly during that week. My cat Mouser licks my hand when I pet her, I think she thinks she's a dog too.

    I bet pets that do this have learned that they get more attention when they rub up against you when you're like this. Pet's can't love you, it's not possible. Everything your pet does they do for the benefit of themselves.

    My one cat seems to be sympathetic. I think she knows when I'm upset because she will follow me around and rub up against me more than usual. If I'm laying on the floor and starting to dose off, I think she thinks I'm dead because she will smack me with her paw to see if I respond. As soon as I turn and look at her and she knows I'm ok, she will walk away.

    The reason we picked our dog was her empathy. She always knows what everyone is feeling, and does her best to make things better. She's fairly big (72 lbs) so she doesn't always realise what her claws feel like on us, but she doesn't bite other than an occaissional nip when I'm really wrestling around with her.

    My wife passes out sometimes and the dog will come and get me, running back and forth until I'm there, then she licks my wife's face until she wakes up.

    Good dog.
