"show me a person who resorts to violence, and I'll show you a man who has ran out of good ideas."
It says it all. What happened to people these days. Why are we not becomming more gentle than our parents?

there are no right and wrong answers.
    Be patient.
Ask for help if you have to.
Be surrounded by non-spanking people. It is the only way to make sure your kids get the discipline they need....even if you have to try a gazillion times and also the happiness and self-respect and confidence regardless of what others think of them.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes....Also don't be afraid to let your kids make mistakes.
This is how we humans learn.
Self respect and confidence are the keys to a both successful and a happy life.
Isn't that what you want for your kids?
I know that being happy to me...is the most important thing in life.

As tempting as it is to hit children with rods, I don't think its a truly effective way to parent. I remember an episode of Doug where he gets in a fight and his Dad says "show me a person who resorts to violence, and I'll show you a man who has ran out of good ideas." We need to use alternative methods, if we're quoting the Bible it says to "turn the other cheek" as well as "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword."

"He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him." Proverbs 13:24
I love my kids and I am going to follow this gem of advice. Kids need to know wrong from right, and spanking is the best way to do it. I tried timeout and kids could care less, its basically a break time. Spanking gets the point across real fast.
