  • It could be the rings are worn real bad or the valve guides are worn. If you want to do a quick test, drive where you go downhill for a good distance where you let off the gas completely and watch in the mirror to see if you make a lot of smoke when you press on the gas pedal. Going downhill creates a high vacuum and will suck oil past the rings and intake valves. Newer engines today are machined with tighter tolerances because they are machined by CNC machines. The solution is to go to a heaver weight oil, or get the engine rebuilt.
