Sometimes, an officer can bring it on himself or herself, if s/he has any kind of so-called "attitude problem" while dealing with the public.

Nationally, less than 1/2 of 1 percent of all uniformed officers are unworhty of their badges and guns, and that's a better "average" than you'll get from the clergy, believe me.

But, if a citizen is treated rudely by someone we have entrusted with safeguarding our lives, that citzen in turn develops a dislike (and disrespect) not only for the rude officer, but for ALL officers in general, and for the entire legal system, as well.

All because ONE officer either insulted the citizen or needlessly yelled at him/her.

You really can't blame some officers for losing their cool, because many of them are "abuse magnets" and get more crap in one day, than most of us will witness in 20 years.

I'm surprised, to be totally honest with you, that MORE line officers don't "snap" under the strain, more often than they do.
