As best anyone can work out, Australia was genetically isolated until the Chinese started visiting in about the 15th century and Macassan seafarers visited about the same time (although the people of Cape York and the northern fringe have some Melanesian genes). You will have to work out what significance that has to your question.

One other thing - there has never been a complete land bridge from Asia to Australia in the relevant time. There has always been a strait between Bali and Lombok in Indonesia. There is a very strong species divide between Asian and Australian species along something called the Wallace Line (worth looking up).

Aboriginal people are sometimes called Australoid race. They are not related in any way to Africans, Asians or Polynesians, and are most genetically similar to Caucasians as far as 'race' goes. When the first people left Africa, those that would become Aboriginal people headed east and those that would become Caucasian people headed west. When they arrived in Australia they were probably quite fair skinned, the darkness developed later to suit Australian conditions. They may be related to the fair-skinned Ainu people of Japan, but this is not certain.

The Australian aboriginals closest genetic relatives are the people of the Andaman Islands off the coast of India.

I was taught in school that the aboriginals were caucasoid.I don't have a problem with their skin color because there are very dark indians...but they have caucasian features. The aboriginals have the broad nose, lips and kinky hair of negroes.I always found that interesting.

How many races there are depends entirely on a relatively subjective human evaluation of what constitutes a race. But if any group should be regarded as a separate race, it is the Australian Aboriginals. However, I am not sure where I would draw the line between "caucusoid" and "mongoloid" as I walk from France to China via, say, India. Many people would say that either you cannot split the human race, or that there are dozens of races. A split into three is arbitrary. For example, few would put the Amerindians into the same group as the Mongols - yet that is what such a crude split does.

I don't know about Aborinals being Caucasoid because there typical features are comparitively different compared to most Indians. Aborinals have strong similarities with most Tamilians of India and Sri Lankans. The broad nose, lips and kinky hair are only common among most Tamilians except Iyangars who share common features with the rest of India. But after looking at some pictures of Aborinal people some look exactly like typcal Indian and some look like the typical Tamilian. Maybe the Aborinals are also part of the Caucasoid race that became too isolated that certain genes became too dominant. But even today the West is still not accepting Indians as Caucasoids.
