I don't know but there was also a prediction that the end of the world would come in 1984 and nothing happened. They also made predictions for 1999 and January 1st 2000. These dates cam and passed so I think of 2012 of another doom's date date that will not happen, just like the others.

Hindu's predicted it, Mayan's predicted it, some hippy who developed a system for some chinese calender predicted it, and Webbot predicted it. see the Nostradamus effect on the histroy channel...
Science has proven there will be a galactic alignment on 12/21/2012, and the sun's energy will be at its highest all through the year of 2012.
I believe something will happen just not something as dramatic

One piece of "evidence" is that they say the Mayan calendar ends on that day. I wonder if that means because my calendar hanging on the wall ends on December 31st, if that is when the world is really going to end.
