doesn't make me feel like a fool at all, because i am smart enough to use it. my spelling however has gotten horrible. now i just type and hit spell check.

Spell check is just a tool; it catches some typos and misspellings, misses others, and occasionally suggests some hilarious alternatives when it thinks it knows what you really meant to spell.
(My favorite was one I found in a student's paper. The student had misspelled "warehouse" as "wherehouse," and spell check suggested "whorehouse." And yep. The student took the suggestion . . . . )
No, it doesn't make me feel like a fool. I know how to spell far more words than spell check does.

I think spell check made me feel like a fool because it's made me a worse speller, always correcting every mistake for me, not having to spell right.

No, I find it irritating when it highlights words that I know damn well are properly spelt, but are not in its dictionary, or not in US English, such as 'authorise' with a 'z' in place of the 's' because my wordprocessor won't accept my desire for it to use UK English.
I feel a fool when I have to Google simple words like 'spelt' just to check that I'm using them properly.
Nobody's perfect.
