You just graduated high school and going to college. your boyfriend is jealous and saying nasty things to make you stay with him. what opinion do you have of him now? ready to depart him?

    Is this happening to your daughter or someone you know? If so, tell her to run, not walk, away from this guy. A good guy would be happy that his girlfriend wants to improve herself through education, and he'd wait patiently for her while she finished school. A man (or woman) should be happy for his partner's success instead of being jealous or trying to shoot down her dreams. If she stays with him, he will only continue to hold her back. I had a relationship like this one, and while I was in it, I felt that I wasn't being the person that I could be, because the guy would've been threatened by my achievements. That is not a healthy situation for anyone to go through.

    High Shaman said it perfectly. I might just add, don't replace him, just consentrate on school work, it will take all you can give. When people get in relationships in school, it's been proved that 9 times out of 10, grades plummet! Your boyfriend is childish, but when we become adults, it is time to put away childish things. You have an emotional bond, so may he. It doesn't mean that you're good for each other. I would go to the bank on the assumption that he's not good for you.

    He's selfish and doesn't really love you, or his happiness at your success would outweigh his feelings of jealousy.Sounds to me like it's time to move on. You meet a lot of people in college; you should have plenty of opportunities to find someone who appreciates you.

    Tell him something along the lines of "F--- off, its my life, and if you're saying those things about me you don't care about me." Then proceed to drive off in your car, and don't come back.
