how dare you use the words "nothing but" to describe the exquisite beauty and complexity of the variation of animal as a product of natural selection.

I think people grossly underestimate the value and complexity of animal life, and overestimate Humanity.
We are animals, and part of nature, only certain religions say otherwise.

I think we are just another animal species. The thing that trips me out though is how we are able to develop technology. I think the Earth intended us to live harmoniously with nature, but we have been doing the exact opposite. I wonder sometimes where our ability to create technology came from.

You can pass on life, but can you create it from scratch?

No. Humans were created by God.
This notion is a tool of governments to make people feel as though they have less value and give up there rights to the State. If you are only an animal, then it would seem to matter less what you do to your fellow man. It eliminates guilt for those in power.

The alignable sequences within DNA genomes of humans and chimpanzees differ by only about 2% and differ only by about 3% compared to gorillas, so that pretty much puts us in the vertebrate animal phylum.

"Nothing but" is a pretty bias term. Yes, humans (mind and body) are another variation of animal life. A variation that has developed a very sophisticated means of communication and a mind capable of several levels of abstraction.
To say "nothing but", though, belittles both humanity and the animal kingdom.

The main difference between humans and animals is that we have a more complicated means of communication, linguistics shows this. Animals aren't dumb they have a very reliable way of communication and the way I think of it is that every species has different dialect to it's language, they can still understand each other. However animals rely on smell more than verbal communication. Simply we are animals we have only developed more. With all the horrible things we do to each other though perhaps lowers our level in life.
