Get your friend a tongue scraper, I hear that can be the place where nasty bacteria stay and make stinky breath.

breath RX plus have the doctor check the throat as there may be an infection that does not bother the person.

Outside of getting professional medical advice, drink more of just plain water (at least 32 oz a day). Also cut out dairy, sweets and alcohol if they are frequently ingested.

Make sure that you floss between your teeth well also. If it persists, ask you dentist.. you do go for a twice yearly cleaning and check-up, right?

Providing your friend is flossing, brushing and using parsley, etc., I might suggest that they have some bad dental work that needs replacing. Old or even slightly loose crowns for example, can make for terrible breath because of the bacteria underneath.

Your friend might have an excessive nasal drainage running down his/her throat. This drainage has probably been there for his/her entire life and could be getting worse with age. Do they snort or clear their throat more than other people? Have them see a doctor and the MD will be able to prescribe a solution.
