Decisions under about 1000 USD equivilent are generaly taken by my wife or I without consultation. Larger sums we usually discuss. That being said, I usually do get the last word if there is no consensus. Not really sure why, just the way it's worked out.

Small things, me do my own and he does his own. Both work, seperate accounts, share all expences. Big things we will discuss together and how to pay. We do know what the other spend on a day to day basis but we dont ask permission. Works for us. +

Depends. On anything for the house or both of us, both of us do. Those are usually the large expenses. I don't usually have enough cash to buy much else, after the house, utilities, insurance, etc. My wife buys the food for the house, and covers a couple of our bills, and can usually save a bit back. So, she may ask me about a pretty large purchase, but it's her decision, usually. (Can't talk her out of all of them! LOL)
