When I wanted to learn how to operate a forklift (back in the 1960s), I went to a place that rented/sold them (in my native Iowa) and told the manager, "I'll pay you to have one of your people train me how to properly operate a forklift, and when I'm done, I hope you will give me a letter stating that I have been trained on one, and know how to safely operate one." The manager agreed, and $25 later, I was in the parking lot, getting "hands on" instruction from one of his employees. I recall that the training took only about 2 hours or so, and I left there with the letter I wanted. Find a place that rents or sells forklifts and do what I did. If the manager doesn't want to do that, then ask him/her where you can go to receive some forklift instruction. They will be able to recommend some places, I'm sure. In the meantime, visit here: http://www.free-training.com/OSHA/forklift/forkmenu.htm Here's a place you might wish to go: All Brand Forklift Service Inc. 12315 Market Street Road Houston, TX 77015 (713) 675-8096 Good luck! +5

i agree with another poster that WS Management Consultants in Houston has an excellent training class. They came out to our company and provided on-site training class. They also offer the class at their office as well as a Train-the-Trainer course I have heard. Their phone number is 281-353-1512 and are located just north of Houston. Their website is www.safety-services.com
