  • Capture them and arrange for them to be sold to zoos (or to private owners, as pets), all around the world. +5
  • Today is 'Bakrid'. A festival for the followers of Islam. As ordained by the Quran, Muslims all over the world slaughter animals in sacrifice and apportion the meat among themselves, their relatives and the poor. Camel is the costliest of the animals that could be slaughtered as sacrifice on Bakrid day. It is considered a matter of prestige to slaughter camels instead of the poor goat. The Australian Government could decide on the number of excess camels in the wild and capture them and export them to countries where there is a sizable Muslim population 1 month before Bakrid festival. All camels will be sold and the Australian government could get some extra income out of the export of the surplus camels in the wild.
  • Reminds me of the herds of caribou which would through small native villages in Canada's far north. They allowed them to run / migrate, but also saw the opportunity to hunt the caribou to complement their diet as well store the meat to prevent starvation. They never killed to offset the natural balance of man/animal/land.
  • Some good ideas about capturing them have been advanced. However, this has to be done very fast and unless someone comes up with lots of money and ideas in a hurry, they will be rounded up and shot. This is a lot better than trying to build barriers so the camels can't get into town and they will, instead, die a horrible death due to thirst or by trying to smash though the barriers. So, shooting seems also to be a sensible solution.
  • Well it is legal to hunt to them
