If political correctness were a factor the DADT law would be repealed allowing homosexual Soldiers to serve openly.
Proper discipline and leadership, unfortunately, are not the cure for insanity.

I'm not sure the fact that he's Muslim is as relevant as the fact that he was desperate to avoid being deployed. I think he just went postal; that can happen to someone of any religion. If he was an extreme right-wing militia member, would you be asking the same question?

- But Hasan has praised human bombers and it is unlawful in the U.S..
  
  It's got to be somewhat different from the privacy law. When a person praises human bombers he should be under suspicion right away, and is considered a threat for the society. Because the outcome of this is very obvious: today he talks about it, tomorrow he will implement.

No. They will always be very conservative with their forecasts and arrests. To be otherwise would cause huge criticisms when they are wrong.

Imagine that you are CIA officer investigating such a PC hot case.

You know:
1) Major Hassan is Islasmic radical.
2) Police Sgt. Crowley "acted stupidly" according to your commander in chief.
3) Eric Holder's investigators are interrogating your colleague in the cubicle next to you with intention to put him on trial for Bush's "crimes against Muslims".
4) Your family needs to be fed and retirement is 12 years away.

So what do you do. Whistle on Hasan? and be accused of cultural insensitivity? - Hell no. You try to pass the hot potato onto someone else, then they assemble a committee and bury the matter in bureaucratic papers.

Mission accomplished.

I think the civilian control of the military needs to learn from this nonsense of 'political correctness'

  Civilian control of the military consists of elected Pres. Obama and of Sec. of Defense Gates, appointed by above mention civilian and approved by Senate.
  Everybody else in the military are professional militarymen.
  So you expect Obama to abolish political correctness?

No-I dont. Because the politicians are what controls the military. They would probably institute a draft if there was not enough men. Women can not fight wars. They will not survive-psychologically or biologically. Women have their roll, men have theirs . Its always been that way.
Politcall Correcness is what destroyed many civilizations through time. The liberal poicies. Whats preserved societies are conservative ideals.
And that scares alot of people, because conservatives are always characterized as being below the favor of everyone else. AMerica is more liberal and we are becoming a bunch of pussies because of it.
