Blesphemy is believed to exempt you from heaven. I believe however that the only unforgivable sin is suicide bieng that one cannot ask for forgiveness after-the-fact. Suicide is self murder therefore you would be disobeying the ten commandments (if you are Christian) and you would be disobeying the wiccan rede if you were wiccan or any trad following the rede because it says "An ye harm none; thy will be done"

What answer you get to this question will depend on the religion of the person giving the answer. In my religion we believe that there only one thing that one can do to forever cut oneself off from God. This is blasphemy. This is the sin of denying the divinity of Jesus with the full knowledge that He is the Son of God and the Redeemer of the world. In our way of thinking, this is a very hard sin to commit because the vast majority of us don't have the sure knowledge needed to commit this sin. We have not spoken directly with angles or receive a visitation from Jesus. So, we are walking by faith rather than a sure knowledge. We may lose our faith, but this is not the same a fighting against God with the sure knowledge that He exists.

According to the Bible, the only way to the Father is through the Son. John 3:3 (NIV) clearly says, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."Again, in John 3:5-7 (NIV) it says, "Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of water and spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be suprised at my saying, "You must be born again." If you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life and ask Him to come into your life and save you, then you will go to Heaven. The only unpardonable sin is blaspheming to Holy Spirit, but you still have to be born again in order to get into Heaven. Revisided: 11/8/05 The 144,00 that one refers to are Jews. If you read Revelation and study it properly, you will notice that the Church has already been raptured by the time it talks of the 144,000. By the Church I mean those of us who believe in Jesus to be our Lord and Savior and have asked Him into our lives to save us. The dead in Christ will rise first and then those of us (Christians) that remain will be caught up to meet them in the air. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is simply put "Rejecting the Holy Spirit and His urgings". It is not a one time sin. It is more of a lifetime of refusing to submit to His prompting and basically refusing to accept Jesus as Lord. You see, Jesus died once and for all time for all sin past present and future. Anyone who is sentenced to Hell will be so, due to his or her own decision not to submit to Christ Jesus as Lord. In other words, if you go to Hell it is your own fault. Everyone has a choice to make. God sacrificed His Only Son to die for ALL sin with the exception of one. So, you don't go to Hell because of all your sin. You go to Hell because you decided by yourself to reject Jesus and His free gift given by grace. In Ephesians it says that salvation (which means ... "going to Heaven") is a gift from God. That it is given by God's grace so no man can boast. The Bible also says many times in Matthew that it is the accepting of Jesus that makes your way to Heaven possible, not anything else. So, if anyone is doubting whether he/she is going to Heaven, you can have the assurance if you just ask Jesus to come into your life and save you. The Bible says to ask Him to be Lord of your life and mean it and you will go to Heaven. That is what true Christians believe because that is what the Bible says. Not my words but Almighty God's.

Well, I'll give the Muslim perspective because it's the one I know best and we already have some eloquent Christian explanations up. Muslims traditionally believe that certain acts are so good that they will carry you to heaven (especially dying in the middle of a religious act like fasting or pilgrimage or inspiring others to accept Islam). But in general we avoid the this-sin-takes-you-to-hell paradigm. Your life is evaluated as the sum total of all your actions and intentions. Some things, like the examples I mentioned, will tip the balance very strongly in one direction. But a human life is a complex combination of factors and we believe that if God made it so He will evaluate our lives accordingly. And, since He's God and He makes the rules, He can of course forgive. We have other sayings about how one truly good act or sincere intention can compensate for ninety-nine bad ones. I'm suspicious of assigning specific numerical values to stuff like this, but I like the general idea. That said, the only big no-no that makes heaven unattainable for us is denial of the existence of God. And many say that at the Last Judgment you get another chance to acknowledge Him, even after death, before getting a definite punishment. Seems pretty generous to me, but that's just my opinion! :) Seriously, though, doctrine set by God and popular, traditional beliefs tend to get mixed up when it comes to subjects like this. So I'm sharing what I've learned, but other Muslims may disagree and I don't want to make the claim that my thoughts and experiences always speak for the whole of the world's largest religion! I'd also love to get a Jewish perspective up here (nudge, nudge, hint, hint!). I find it intriguing that Jews actually believe that non-Jews have a LESS strict load of requirements for reaching heaven than Jews, who carry the burden of being God's chosen people and having to meet extra requirements. I remember that there are 7 requirements non-Jews must fulfill to go to heaven, and that they have much more to do with general behavior than religious belief. But I don't remember the 7, alas, and I'd love to get the full story from someone who knows more about it (more nudging, more hinting!).

Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. Mark 3 and Mathew 12 have references to this (someone else found them, I can't take credit). This manifests itself as a denial of Jesus as the Messiah. An interesting note: I heard someone point out once that Christians who are concerned about this question are rarely those who have anything to worry about. The arrogantly unconcerned are more likely to have issues. Not a rule, but a decent generalization.

The only sin that cannot be forgiven is Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit! It is the Holy Spirit's work to draw people to Christ Jesus. If we reject the message of Christ and his atonement then we have refused the work of the Holy Spirit which was to reveal the Truth! Jesus taught that if we reject his message, we are actually rejected Gods message as it was He who was conveying it. In the scripture, the Pharisees were attributing Christ power to demonic power and were thus saying that the work of God was according to the Devil. This is a flat out rejection of God as the source and thus blasphemy! It is correct to say that if you reject salvation through Christ, you are rejecting the "Work or message of the Holy Spirit". The only thing that God cannot forgive you for is rejecting Christ salvation.

YES - The greatest sin is to worship a false god. There is only GOD there is no other. Jesus is not GOD so to treat him as if he were GOD is a sin. Jesus was an exceptional man just like Gandhi and GOD came to earth through them. (He used thier spirits to communicate and implement change as it was needed) But they are not GOD! Also no one is denied existance after they die GOD will choose how you will be best used GOD bless you all and live in TRUTH

I concur that your answer will depend on which teachings/religion/scriptures a person accepts, but I will provide the Biblical answer: All sin will keep a person out of heaven. According to Romans 6:23, the cost for any sin is death, or eternal separation from God. Jesus alone is the only escape from the just consequences of our sins. While it is controversial about whether or not a person can lose their salvation (although the curse upon those changing the book of Revelation in Revelation 22:19 seems a clear possibility), what is quite clear is that if one CAN lose their salvation, they can never get it back (Hebrews 6:4-8). As Hebrews 10:26-27 says, "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." However, as the end of the chapter concludes, such "willful sinning" might imply the lack of true saving faith and repentance to begin with when it says in v. 39, "But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

Nothing - not even blasphemy - is unforgivable. God will simply write it of as ignorance. And Heaven (or Hell) is happening now as you reap the consequences of your actions every day. After death there is just rest and you are part of the "hummmmn" in nature where you are equal to everything else. Love is all we need to have and to give - that's it. And a hatefull soul already suffers.

No, as far as God is concerned, sin is a binary concept. Basically, a sin is a sin, if you do not repent and go on sinning, you will face the wrath of god. A white lie, murder, and blaspheme are all the same in God's eyes. So, as long as you sincerely repent and sin no more, you will be accepted into heaven.

in my belief there is no heaven but we call the place we go after life the summerland. It is a place where we rest and take time out to write our tests for the next life,we dont get turned away. We apoint our spirit guides we may come back as either a man or a woman but not a animal we did this the first time round. We wait until its time and get born again.

I love how people absolve themselves through the idea that however bad you are in life you can have an assured place in 'heaven' by being sorry that you did bad things. I was always told (a bit of a paradox) "If you were truly sorry you wouldn't have done it in the first place". Let's face it, heaven doesn't exist - it is part of the figment that religion creates to keep a hold on the populace through threats and promises. It is like a politician telling you that the country has 'turned the corner' or 'the underlying trend shows that...' . These are just lies to keep you mollified until the next set of lies are required. Interestingly, I will never to get to heaven (on the premise that it does exist) as I have obviously blasphemed and have not repented my mistakes, so belief is a moot point for me.

This question has always troubled me. Here's what I sometimes wonder. Now, if plants live by consuming the minerals in the crust of the earth, and if livestock live by consuming those plants of the earth, and if humans live by consuming that livestock. What does God live by consuming? Please note that I have no reason to doubt that Jesus was the Son of God, but what does the Higher Order consume ........?

I have heard that suicide, and blasphome (sp?) are unforgivable sins. So if you said, there is no God, I deny you, then you may go to hell. If you kill yourself, then you go to hell. This is what I have heard. I was also told once, that if you were not of your right mind (crazy maybe), and you killed yourself, that God would take into account that you did not know what you were doing. I guess in sanity, suicide is forgiven. Once again, this is just what I have been told, only God knows the truth on this one.

It depends on who's doing the asking. If you have already experienced biblical salvation i.e. You have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and become born again, then there is NO sin that you can commit that has the power to undo what Jesus Christ has done in you! He promised that you can NEVER lose your salvation. "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. " John 10:28. (Caps Mine) If you have NOT yet received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior then the only thing keeping you out of Heaven is NOT receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. It's that simple! Concerning the sin of “Blasphemy Against The Holy Ghost” this is something that is extremely rare and NEVER done by accident. "Blasphemy" is saying something slanderous or injurious to the good name of God. So speaking blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when someone who knows better deliberately attributes the works of the Holy Spirit to the Devil. Like what the Pharisees did when Jesus was casting out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit. They proclaimed: “...This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.” (Matt. 12:24) Jesus then said, "...All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. (Matt. 12:31) So, its safe to say that once someone is genuinely concerned about their salvation they have NOT blasphemed against The Holy Spirit because its the deliberate and willful act of slandering the Holy Name of God by someone who knows exactly what they're doing.
