Unfortunately, no. Most of them seem to be quite nice men with very good intentions, however, when one of them sexually abuses someone, the church tends to help cover it up instead of trying to work in the interest of the victim. The individual priests involved working to keep their activities covered up is one thing, but the fact that the Catholic Church actively works to cover up sex crimes makes these men extra threatening.

It's is difficult question. Some say: it's not the Priests themselves, but the celibacy policy - they force priests to unnaturally suppress their sexual urges, and make them more and more likely to release those urges on an easy target (i.e. alter boys) - if the celibacy policies were abandoned, you'd see a marked decrease is such cases. Others say: it's definitely the priests themselves - they believe they are "above" common decency and law, and that they can do whatever disgusting thing they want since they supposedly have a direct line to God, and can endlessly justify their actions with reference to divine authority...or simply cover it up, as they are SO good at doing. I think it's probably a little of both - forced celibacy is definitely unnatural - that's why in prisons their are so many male-on-male rapes; it's not that prisoners are disproportionately gay, it's just that they have no other outlet for their sexual energy. But of course, that doesn't justify priests' behaviour. They aren't prisoners, and they can leave the priesthood and have sex if they want - they choose to see their religious mission as the highest priority, at the expense of their psychological health.
