Speaking only for myself, I don't really like playing "host" to the answers... one is sort of obligated to visit each one, issue thanks and points, etc. If I have a question I usually google the answer, or discuss it in a comment thread with someone I think has something worthwhile to say about it.

I have always been the type of person who prefers to provide solutions to existing problems. I have always found it to be much more difficult to seek out new problems ... so I mostly answer and seldom ask.

I used to ask a lot of questions but people were maliciously flagging them and about 50% of them were being rejected as duplicates when they were NOTHING alike..it has become a big pain honestly. When you ask a question if it's a duplicate it's supposed to pop up in the box and it doesn't and then it gets merged with something NOT even close that is over 2 years old. You get really rude answers at times..It just became too much hassle for me. I still ask a few but not as important to me anymore.

I can pretty much figure out most of the answers from reading the questions and answers of others..the occasional question does pop of from me though :)

I look up information I want. I usually only ask questions as jokes. My answers are about fifty fifty jokes and seriously trying to help. I try to stay in the vein of the question.

I think that it has to do with a person's comfort level with asking or answering.

I believe that answering questions is easier and safer than asking them. You don't have to worry about being flagged as a duplicate, or really worry about whether your answer will be popular or not (unless it is offensive). So those people comfortable with expressing their opinions prefer to answer.

Coming up with creative and original questions comes easier to some people than others.

I am one of those people and to be honest with you, everytime I have a question in my head that I want answering I can often find the answer pretty quick by doing a little research on the net.

However, for all the questions that I have in my head that I do go to ask on Answerbag, I find that most of the time they have already been asked in one form or another and then I can just read the answers that people have already written. I have no desire to post them again because I believe that would be creating valueless duplicates. I perceive the primary aim of the Answerbag database of questions is for people to use them as a reference.

I answer lots of questions because I enjoy thinking, formulating opinions, sharing my personal insight, summarising facts and presenting it all into the written word. I also feel the need to help people who are in a personal quandry. In addition I get pleasure from participating and interacting with people in the funny/amusing topics.

Personally, because I don't have all that much to ask.

I'm all about researching answers on my own, instead of posting questions here.

About the only questions I DO post here are more of the "human insight" or "story" kind. And most call for personal opinions and such, not technically accurate replies.

It's harder, sometimes, to come up with a question that hasn't already been asked, than to answer a question with life experience and/or humor.

I came up with a list of about 30 questions once, thinking I was being extremely unique, and nearly half of them had already been asked.

I ask them when they come to me, and they aren't dupes. But I can answer hundreds or thousands of questions that remind me of something that happened in my life, or that I can come up with a funny answer for. ;-)

I only ask questions that have personal meaning or that I think people will find fun. They don't always come up for me and I don't like to ask questions just for the sake of asking questions.

Some people basically never grow out of the inquisitive nature of their youth - like Highlander and Jay

Some are great at coming up with funny life questions like Ender, Fun and Sheepingly

Some ask questions about what happened earlier that same day - like me :)

Some ask a few questions and they aren't a smashing success like they pictured in their heads so they become reluctant asking more and prefer the annonymity of answering.

Some just love being helpful and try to answer as many as possible like Patti jo, Firebrand, Shelby and you!!

That's why I like it so much here - so many great different types of personalities and quirks among all the baggers :)
