Many reasons. Women who have choices outside of being married off and having babies will be more selective about having babies. Those babies produced will have a greater share of attention and expectations. Educated mothers tend to be better respected by their children as the children grow up and grow older. Educated mothers tend to bestow a value for education upon their children, who in turn gain more education and more human capital.

Most women have more personal needs than men,ie. clothing, personal items, pots n pans, kitchen stuff, all the things it takes for a man to come home to a happy place. Because in most countries women make up at leaset half of your potential market for growth in regard to selling, jobs and creating of new markets. Outside of the direct bearing you also have the social, family and community impact that woman as a group have can have and you are lookng at changing the dynamics. +5
