Yes, that happens all the time. Once when driving a Tractor Trailer, I was in one such brain freeze when I snapped out of it, I saw a toll booth right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and skidded into the toll booth stopping just in time. The toll collector asked me if I had a license to fly that thing. If I had snapped out of it a second or so later, I would have ran right over him.
Yes. It's scariest when you're on a motorcycle.
Driving is a purely visual experience. It may be OK to ignore the last five miles because they were indeed boring, but you are best advised to keep your eyes on the road and cars around you. Ya never know when someon is going to pull a stupid maneuver.
OMGosh YES! A bump in the road will "knock/bump" me out of it and then I think OMGosh, did I run over a dog or something?
Especailly on LONG drives on LONG & BLAH Scenery roads. I live where you see miles and miles of trees OR sagebrush! lol I call it TUNNEL VISION!

Yes but is is possible that it could be related to low blood sugar levels?
I always wonder how easily I would have not seen something in the road.

You're reading When driving while lost in thought, does it ever weird you out to think that you just drove for several miles without really paying attention to the road?
