  • I don't beleive that it is, not anymore. I do believe that the embargo should be lifted. I, for one, would love to visit there. My friend went and she had nothing but wonderful things to say about the place.
  • I can't see how such a poor country could be a threat to a resource and power rich country like the USA. Time to get over that issue, and let the people in Cuba get some help.
  • I think that Cuba is not a threat and that the embargo should have been lifted years ago.Every other country in the country in the world deals fairly with them and trades with them. The US should do the same.
  • Because no party wants to piss Florida off -- it is one of those "must win" states come election year. (Florida is where most ex-pat Cubans live -- and they vote!).
  • Because our political thinking has not gone past the 1950's.....or maybe we're afraid of a good Cuban cigar.
  • I find it odd, that many western nations sell billions of dollars of weapons to the House of Saud, that routinely torture, oppress and murder their people, but because Cuba have the temerity to remove a vicious dictator like Batiste and throw out the dregs of the society who bled Cuba dry, the US has to be seen as the protector of special interests.
  • A + B) Not since the Cuban Missile Crisis. C) Hell yes!
  • I think it's seen as a threat because it's so damn near the USA. But IMHO, Washington should lift its embargo on Havana for the sake of its people. Going after Fidel Castro should not be at the expense of innocent Cuban civilians.
  • The trouble with Cuba is that if we start getting too friendly, they'll start getting friendly with places like China, and enable them to gain fast access to attacking anywhere on our mainland. Their government is NOT friendly to ours, and would turn into an enemy on a moment's notice until the regime changes. Should we lift embargoes? Well honestly, I don't think they help much, so sure, go for it. Just don't climb into bed with them, as it were.
  • Yes, I truly do not understand the logic behind the embargo. It's not as if communism is a threat to the Americas and it could only improve both of our economic situations. They could stand to profit immensely if they sold the US sugar and Fine Cigar products. They could get richer and especially with all the tourism possibilities they could really stand to succeed in a major economic way.
  • frankly i don't understand half of these stupid answers. if you are actually asking seriously, the answer is a straight no. cuba hasn't been any threat whatsoever to the US since the 60s and despite major political disagreements, it would not attack the u.s.
