It's about as true as the movie U571 was. Basically the writers took one tiny grain of information. Totally & utterly distorted this grain until it bares no resemblance to reality, & made an entertaining story out of it.
The truth is, the 2012 date coincides with the Mayan calendar, which to someone who knows nothing about their culture, seems to end in 2012. However, the Mayans believed that the world was cyclical & so this date actually represented the change from one 'age' to the next. According to the Mayans, there have been about 4 ages so far.
This, misunderstanding by the ill-educated, has been latched onto by the usual doomsday crowd. So in conclusion, the film is merely entertaining nonsense & it's theories hold absolutely no water what-so-ever.
Yup - it's almost over.

You're reading I have heard roomers that 2012 the movie, is atcually based on real ancient calendars and that the world will end in that year. Is this true?
