Help answer this question below.
I am not religious but, if I was, I would say "no."
Everyone does it, including myself. I do not know of anyone who can, if they are honest with themselves, say that they do not stereotype people.
What I have a problem with is people who do not look past and challenge the stereotypes.
It is unfair to each individual person to look at them through a stereotype and it is the mark of laziness and fear for a person to not challenge the stereotypes they hold.
These are two different words.
Generalizing is drawing an inference about the many based on an array of examples of the many. Generalizations can and do change.
A stereotype is a hasty generalization that is made on the basis of one or two examples. A stereotype, by definition, does NOT change.
If we did not generalize, we almost literally could not move, because we wouldn't be able to predict anything at all based on our experience. One of the most important ways we learn is by observing and generalizing. The trick is to KEEP observing, and to REVISE generalizations on the basis of new experience.
You mean like
Love is Good
Hate is Bad
No. It isn't a sin. Happy Monday! :)
a sin? no, but it is:
unfair
unwise
insecure
inaccurate
unenlightened
arrogant
short-sighted
and immature.
and since when is ignorance a sin?
I wouldn't call it a sin, just a sign of a shallow mind...
A little less sin on here and a little more human decency okay?
