I would.

Who someone likes to have sex with has little or nothing to do with how they would run a country, and you already said they were qualified, so their sexual preference is completely irrelevant.

I would vote for a candidate who was black, white, purple, heterosexual, homosexual, asexual, was a dog, defied gravity, etc, etc, etc, IF, they were the best individual for the job at that point.

If they represent views I share and are more qualified than who they are running against, then yes I'd vote for them.

I expect my President to be able to show public discretion about their sex life, and so it doesn't matter to me what they are doing inside their bedroom, as long as it doesn't end up on the news. I also expect their partner to fulfill the role of first spouse appropriately too.

Being gay and qualified is controvercial just like being black and being qualified. I overlooked the discrimination and voted for Obama on the basis of his qualifications, and now I am convinced I made the wrong choice. If you claim you are qualified, I don't care if you are gay, black, muslim, transexual, an axe murderer, child molester or any other controvercial character, I'm going to look more closely at what you can do, not who you are, so what I am saying is that being gay has nothing to do with who I would vote for. It's just a gimmick to cover up lack of experience. After Obama, this gimmick won't work on me anymore!

- I have to say I was with you until you mentioned the axe murderer and child molester, although I think you meant it as a metaphor(??).
  
  My question was pretty broad when I mentioned "qualified". People have different perspectives of what "qualified" means, so the point I was trying to make is more about whether or not the sexual orientation is an issue. I see it would not be an issue for you as long as you thought he/she was qualified (according to your standards/values at the time).

- Yes, these were metaphors for a candidate that was "different" from the socially accepted norm. Perhaps they were too extreme, but to many closed-minded people, saying "would you vote for a gay candidate who is qualified" is the same as asking "would you vote for a child molester who has the qualifications to he president?"
  
  You are right, sexual orientation would not be a problem for me if the person was indeed qualified, but hiding lack of qualifications behind a "gimmick" tag such as "black" or "gay" to win public appeal doesn't cut it any more. Sure, it would be nice to have a black president, or a gay or a woman president, but only if they are qualified.

My choice for president would not be based on if they were gay or not, it would be based on their platform, integrity, if their views are the same as mine, etc.

I want to say yes, but to be honest, if the guy was a flamer (acted very feminine) or the women was very butch, i would be turned off by them, and would probably not vote for them. but, if I had time to let it sink in, and paid attention to just the issues, i could probably do it.
