As an old man I find it interesting that people live completely without checks. Things like rent, car payments, and utils, do you pay online? In person? Use money orders? I'm down to using about 6 checks a month but still find them indispensable for such uses.
And yes, checks have long been subject to fraud.
You did not say if this was a batch of 100s of checks or one of those promotional mailings with 4 or 5 checks. If the former you may want to call WF and ensure there was nothing in any fine print where your account (if you have one) qualifies as a checking account. If the latter then sometimes those mailings are part of a credit card solicitation. Either way if you do not want them, destroy them by shredding or burning.
If you didn't order them, they can't charge you for them. You can keep them, send them back or just throw them away.

We pay the rent in cash, the car payment is taken directly out of the bank account, as are utilities.
