From what I understand it takes years of meditation and contemplation,and takes many lifetimes.From what I have read once a person is enlightened they have a choice of being reborn in a new body.If we are not enlightened we have not choice but to be reincarnated.
Spirituality views life as a classroom and each one starts out at the same level.When a person learns all the lessons of life they,so to speak,graduate in the form of enlightenment.

Removal of darkness within. salvation helps with this. Honesty, openness and willingness are necessary. After enlightenment we realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. Eternity is infinite and the possibilities are endless. So after enlightenment comes more enlightenment comes more present tense living comes joy.
Would angels be considered "extraterrestrial" beings, and would not wayward ones strive to deceive the seekers of truth?
