Help answer this question below.

Our tv has a "snow" screen with a black strip going across the center. It was also turning off when we would change the channel. Anyone know what is wrong with it? Can it be fixed?

Have you tried changing channels by using the buttons on the tv? maybe it's your remote.

Sounds like your TV has had it's use. I would start looking for a new one.
