Saw the others, so won't repeat them. Arabian, Appaloosa, Palomino, Belgian Draft horse (close relative of the Percheron), Icelandic horse, Tarpan. Mustangs are considered a breed by many. Mongolian horse, probably the toughest little horse in the world.

How many would you like? Saddlebred, Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, Tennessee Walking Horse, Missouri Foxtrotter, Rocky Mountain Horse, Kentucky Racking Horse, Appaloosa, Belgian, Percheron, Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk Punch, Halflinger, Fjord, Cleveland Bay, Hackney, Trakhener, Hanoverian, Connemara, Fells pony, Shetland Pony, Welsh Pony, Dutch Warmblood, Friesian, Pony of the Americas, Morgan, Peruvian Paso and Paso Fino (which may be the same thing as Narragansett Pacer), Icelandic Pony...hmmm, I'm running dry here. I was trying to stick to only breeds that I personally have known or worked with, so I think I've got them all. There are other breeds, of course, like the Italian Draft, but I haven't worked with them.

Oh wait, there was a small breed that I saw at a show once called a Canadian Warmblood or light draft, something like that, that looked like a cross between a Morgan and a Percheron. I only ever saw it at the North American Carriage Driving Classics (Walnut Hill Farm Show and the Canadian Classic), so it had to have been centered around Ontario and would have been in the region where the Morgan developed and where the Percheron was first imported. I'd forgotten about them.

Only one I can think of not mentioned is Tennessee Walking Horse. They stand funny. My mom's has a Quarter horse, but it looks like a full horse to me.

WHAAAAA!!!!!!! Everyone stole my answers. Wait, what about the pygmie pony? Not the Shetland, there is one even small than that called the Pygmie. Honest

I just realized no one mentioned a Pinto sometimes called a Paint. Is a Zebra considered an Equine? They crossed a horse with a zebra and called it a Zorse! I know. More than you wanted to know but fun anyway.

What about a Akhal-Teke? They have a metallic coat and I just learned of the breed not long ago. I own a flea-bitten grey arabian mare, standardbred mare, clydesdale cross quarter horse gelding, tennessee walker cross quarter horse mare, and a bunch of purebred reg'd and unreg'd quarter horses. Horses are da' BOMB!

Since many people named more common ones, how about some rarities, at least rare in the USA?
    Criollo
    New Forest and Exmoor Pony
    Selle Francais
    Lusitano
    Rhinelander
    Holsteiner

We bred appaloosas and quarter horses for many years in California.

    Nobody mentioned them so...

    ... Gypsy Vanner

    http://www.gypsyvannerranch.com/images/HorseBios/ER%20Gypsy.htm
http://www.gypsyhorses.com/ ... has some of the history of the breed.

They were bred by my people very specifically and are truly fantastic animals to this day. If I could have a horse, I would have a vanner and not just because they were bred by my people. They are THAT good.

"There’s an old saying, which goes “Gypsy Gold does not chink and glitter, it gleams in the sun, and neighs in the dark”."

I don't see Russian Don up here. I've seen Tennesse Walking horses, but never that more esoteric breed.
